As the Commonwealth celebrates its 70th anniversary today, we take pause to reflect on the diversity, achievements and connectivity that make the Commonwealth the unique institution that it is
The Commonwealth Enterprise and Investment Council (CWEIC) is delighted to support this year’s theme ‘A Connected Commonwealth’ through its programming. The theme focuses on how, by collaborating to address the issues of sustainability, safety, prosperity and fairness, which are of great importance to all members, the Commonwealth can be a force for positive and effective change. CWEIC seeks to achieve these aims by connecting businesses and governments from all parts of the Commonwealth, building a closer, more collaborative network with greater capacity for innovation, sharing ideas, facilitating trade, and stimulating investment in sectors and regions with untapped potential.
The Commonwealth connects G20 members and OECD countries with emerging economies and small island states from Asia, Europe, the Caribbean, the Americas, the Pacific and Africa. Home to 2.4 billion citizens, 40% of the global workforce, the Commonwealth is a young and diverse population, representing huge vibrancy and opportunity.
As we look ahead to the 2020 Commonwealth Business Forum in Rwanda, we are excited to work towards the goals and priorities of the Commonwealth, making the most of the diversity, energy and the Commonwealth Advantage.
Finally, we would like to take this opportunity to thank our Strategic Partners, Export Champions, and our dedicated Country Directors for working with us over the years to strengthen Commonwealth businesses ties and make the most of the wealth of opportunities the Commonwealth has to offer.
