Message from CWEIC Chief Executive, Richard Burge

Dear Members and Friends,

August has provided CWEIC with a moment of relative calm ahead of our very busy calendar for the Autumn. Whilst last month we hosted a variety of delegations and events, August has been the month for getting our heads down and planning ahead – and plan ahead we have!

In April, CWEIC hosted an event in conjunction with the Saudi General Investment Authority in the Guildhall, London, and this November will see the follow-up event – this time in Riyadh.

CWEIC to Lead Commonwealth-Saudi Trade Mission

Saudi Arabia is undergoing significant economic and social change. From the proposed listing of ARAMCO, to huge infrastructure projects in the Red Sea, the Kingdom has captured curiosity and attention from investors around the world. This piece explores the relevance of Saudi Arabia for the Commonwealth’s public and private sectors.

CWEIC Advisory Council Meeting in Lagos

A host of our Nigerian Advisory Council representatives came together for a meeting and lunch in Lagos in August, also joined by fellow UK-based Council representative Baroness Chalker, who was visiting Lagos at the time. Since the creation of our Nigeria Hub, our Nigerian network has gone from strength to strength, as so it was fantastic to so many of our Strategic Partners get together to discuss mutual issues.

Mainstream Energy Solutions Limited Join CWEIC as Strategic Partners

CWEIC is delighted to announce the addition of another Nigerian Strategic Partner to the organisation, Mainstream Energy Solutions Limited (MESL), who operate two hydropower dams in Nigeria. As well as being a key provider of sustainable energy to the country, MESL also run a prominent and active social impact foundation.
