Anthony John Cowell
Non-Executive Director, Senior Adviser and IMPACT investor
Anthony is a Non-Executive Director, Senior Adviser and IMPACT investor. He was formerly a Global Lead Engagement Partner, Head of Asset Management, ESG and Head of KPMG IMPACT for the KPMG Islands Group, a sub-region of countries within EMA. His portfolio of clients included some of the world’s largest asset managers and alternative investment platforms, as well as independent hedge funds, private equity structures and institutional investment portfolios.
Anthony was a member of KPMG’s Global Alternative Investments Leadership Team and KPMG’s European Council for Investment Management. His responsibilities included strategic planning, thought leadership and business development and he represented KPMG at the World Economic Forum. He was a Director of the CAIA Association, the global leader in alternative investment education and provider of the CAIA designation, the alternative industry benchmark.
Anthony is a senior adviser to various entities, including UN agencies, on innovative financing strategies, creating several securitization and bond structures to manage risk and facilitate the release of economic and regulatory capital. A regular speaker at industry conferences and author of thought leadership across asset management, he is regularly featured in the business press and was Editorial Chair of the Cayman Alternative Investment Summit, one of the worlds largest asset management conferences. Anthony has co-authored several global thought leadership reports including “Sustainable Investments: Fast-forwarding its Evolution” and “Alternative Investments 3.0: Digitize or Jeopardize”.
An active member of his community, Anthony is a trustee of Becoming X Foundation, a global charity that works with the most inspiring and iconic people to help create a world where everyone can realise their potential, no matter what their starting point in life. He is a director of Zero Gravity, a social enterprise which connects the UK’s most talented students from low opportunity areas with mentors, universities and employers. He is also a founding board member of Literacy Is For Everyone, an independent charitable organisation created to improve literacy in the Cayman Islands.
Anthony is a Chartered Accountant and holds a BSc (Hons) in Management Sciences from Warwick University. He is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England & Wales (ICAEW).
