Who we are

The Commonwealth Enterprise and Investment Council is the Commonwealth’s business network. With over 90 business and government Strategic Partners from 27 countries and territories, CWEIC has a mandate to facilitate trade and investment throughout the 54 member nations of the Commonwealth. Every two years we host the Commonwealth Business Forum in association with the host country of CHOGM and the Commonwealth Chair-in-Office. We’re looking forward to the Commonwealth Business Forum 2021 in Rwanda.

Since our foundation in 2014, CWEIC has;

  • Delivered two Commonwealth Business Forums, alongside the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meetings in Malta and London;
  • Developed a database of 10,000 Commonwealth contacts – from leading businesses to MSMEs – all with the express interest of doing more business in the Commonwealth;
  • Established top-level relationships with apex business organisations like chambers of commerce, business associations and trade bodies in every region of the Commonwealth and most countries;
  • Recruited Strategic Partners in all regions of the Commonwealth. Our Strategic Partners include some of the largest and most innovative business across the Commonwealth;
  • Appointed Country Directors who, alongside our UK HQ, act as hubs for our work with Governments and business reaching across the regions of the Commonwealth: Africa, Asia, the Caribbean and the Americas, Europe, and the Pacific;
  • Established strong relationships with key investor nations outside the Commonwealth in the Middle East and in China;
  • Brought together nearly 5,000 organisations at more than 150 events across the Commonwealth.

Through our networks, at our events, and on international delegations, our activities aim to create a powerful platform for meaningful engagement between business leaders and Government decision makers across the Commonwealth.

CWEIC’s in market Country Directors provide insight and connections to our international network across Ghana, Malta, Malaysia, Nigeria, Sri Lanka, the Caribbean, and the UK.
