CWEIC and the Cayman Islands Government Sign MOU to Establish Caribbean Hub

The Commonwealth Enterprise and Investment Council (CWEIC) is pleased to announce the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between the Government of the Cayman Islands, represented by the Hon. Andre Ebanks, Premier, and Lord Marland, Chairman of CWEIC. The agreement was signed yesterday in Grand Cayman and marks the formal establishment of a CWEIC Hub for the Caribbean in the Cayman Islands.

The MOU sets out a framework for cooperation between the Cayman Islands Government (CIG) and CWEIC to strengthen government relations, promote inter-Commonwealth trade and business opportunities, and support partnerships among Commonwealth countries and territories in and around the Caribbean.

Under the agreement, the new hub will serve as a platform to promote and facilitate trade, enterprise and investment across the region, while also positioning the Cayman Islands as a strategic destination for commercial activity. The hub will additionally help facilitate business partnerships and encourage local participation in key CWEIC events, including the Commonwealth Business Forum in Antigua and Barbuda in 2026.

The Cayman Islands Government, through the Office of the Premier, will support the development of the hub by helping to connect regional and local businesses, investors and government departments, and by promoting Strategic Partnership and membership standards. The hub will be overseen by a joint working group comprising representatives from CIG and CWEIC.

The signing of this MOU marks an important step in strengthening collaboration and facilitating new economic opportunities across the Caribbean Commonwealth.
