Lord Johnson brings a wealth of experience in both politics and finance to the CWEIC Advisory Board. He currently serves as Co-Chairman of the UK Conservative Party. After joining the House of Lords in 2022, he was appointed Minister for Investment, where he promoted the UK as a leading global destination for investment.

 

In 2007, he co-founded Somerset Capital Management LLP, a specialist emerging markets fund manager, and served as CEO until 2022. He has deep experience investing in high-growth economies across Asia, Africa, and Latin America, many of which are Commonwealth member states.

 

Lord Johnson has spent over 25 years in financial services, beginning his career at Robert Fleming in 1995. He later worked in Hong Kong for Jardine Fleming and, after involvement in several dot-com ventures, led marketing at Lloyd George Asset Management, an emerging markets-focused firm.

 

He was appointed Commander of the Order of the British Empire (CBE) in 2017 for political and public service.
