CWEIC Engages Stakeholders in Antigua and Barbuda as CHOGM Preparations Advance

As part of CWEIC’s first official visit to Antigua and Barbuda ahead of the Commonwealth Business Forum (CBF) in 2026, CWEIC representatives were honoured to be invited to the official launch of the CHOGM Theme and Logo. The launch, hosted in St. John’s, marked a significant milestone as Antigua and Barbuda prepares to welcome the Commonwealth’s Heads of Government next year.

During the visit, the CWEIC team will continue its planning mission with counterparts in the Ministry of Finance and the Commonweath Secretariat, reviewing venues and advancing preparations for the Forum. This early engagement ensures that the CBF reflects both the priorities of Antigua and Barbuda and the interests of the wider Commonwealth business community.

Official Launch of the CHOGM Theme

CWEIC is delighted to welcome the official theme for the 2026 Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM) – ‘Accelerating Partnerships and Investment for a Prosperous Commonwealth’.

The official theme of CHOGM 2026 was unveiled, as part of a joint announcement by the Prime Minister of Antigua and Barbuda, Hon Gaston Browne, and Commonwealth Secretary-General, Hon Shirley Botchwey. The event marked the Secretary-General’s first official visit to the country.

At a time of global uncertainty and instability, this theme reflects the vital role that the Commonwealth can play as a forum for partnership and shared prosperity. It also aligns closely with CWEIC’s core aims, of strengthening the Commonwealth and its member states through mutually-beneficial investment, commerce, and partnership.

The launch ceremony featured the unveiling of the official CHOGM 2026 logo, designed by Ms Chaneil C. Imhoff, winner of the national logo competition. The design incorporates an abstract frigate bird, symbolising freedom, strength, and forward movement, a reflection of Antigua and Barbuda’s role as a connector and host for meaningful global dialogue. The logo’s vibrant colours, drawn from the national flag and the Commonwealth palette, represent unity, renewal, and collaboration.

Looking forward to CHOGM 2026, CWEIC is optimistic that next year’s Meeting in Antigua and Barbuda will provide a fruitful opportunity to put these principles into practice, and to explore what practical steps can be taken to deepen the economic links between the Commonwealth’s fifty-six member states. The event will run concurrently with the biennial Commonwealth Business Forum, which will provide an opportunity for the Commonwealth business community to make its voice heard.
