CWEIC Ghana Hub Celebrates Commonwealth Day

It was a joyous Commonwealth Day for our Ghana Hub as they commemorated the 75th Commonwealth Day celebration in Accra under the theme “One Resilient Common Future” at a flag-raising and tree-planting ceremony at State House in Accra.

Addressing the ceremony as the Guest of Honour, Hon. Kwaku Ampratwum-Sarpong, Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration, emphasised the theme’s significance, stressing the need for the 56 member countries to unite their strengths through leveraging the Commonwealth Advantage. He highlighted Ghana’s historical ties with the Commonwealth, rooted in mutual respect and understanding, reaffirming Ghana’s active membership and unwavering commitment to the organisation.

The Ghana Head of Mission for the Commonwealth Enterprise and Investment Council, John Obeng Apea delivered remarks on behalf of the Commonwealth Secretary-General, Her Excellency Baroness Patricia Scotland, and stated that the celebration marks a moment of reflection, urging all nations to continue working hard for the benefit of member nations.

Representing His Majesty King Charles III, the Head of Commonwealth, Her Excellency Harriet Thompson, the British High Commissioner to Ghana, extended gratitude to all participating nations, and commended Ghana’s contributions to the Commonwealth. She underscored that the core values of democracy serve as the primary unifying factors among Commonwealth nations.
