CWEIC Strategic Partner EWIS has supported the reopening of the Faculty of Management Computer Laboratory at the University of Peradeniya, following extensive damage caused by Cyclone Ditwa.

Severe flooding destroyed two fully equipped computer laboratories, rendering all computers and related equipment beyond repair. The loss significantly disrupted academic activities, particularly for students who rely on digital resources for lectures, research, and practical coursework.

Responding to the urgent need to restore these essential facilities, E-W Information Systems Limited (EWIS) stepped forward with a major corporate contribution to re-establish the Faculty’s digital learning infrastructure. As part of this initiative, the company donated 100 brand-new laptops manufactured at its advanced production facility in Sooriyawewa, reaffirming the strength of Sri Lankan-built technology. An 85-inch widescreen smart board was also provided to enhance interactive teaching and modernise the learning environment.

The reopening ceremony, held at the Faculty premises, was attended by Vice-Chancellor Terence Madhujith and Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of EWIS, Sanjeewa Wickramanayake, who also serves as EWIS’s representative on CWEIC’s Global Advisory Council. The event symbolised resilience and collaboration between academia and industry, ensuring continuity in higher education despite unforeseen challenges.

This timely intervention restores critical infrastructure while strengthening the Faculty’s capacity to deliver technology-enabled education in an increasingly digital world.
