On Friday 13 June 2025, CommonAge convened its inaugural Living Well – Ageing Well Innovation Challenge Expert Roundtable at Marlborough House, in partnership with the Commonwealth Secretariat, Innovate UK, the Commonwealth Enterprise and Investment Council (CWEIC), the Commonwealth Foundation, and Standards Wise International.
The session brought together thought leaders, investors, and policymakers from across the Commonwealth to explore how innovation can address one of the 21st century’s most urgent issues: ageing populations. With over 1 in 4 Commonwealth citizens projected to be aged 60+ by 2050, the roundtable marked a critical step in shaping a cross-sector, pan-Commonwealth response.
Participants heard from UKRI’s Healthy Ageing Challenge team and reviewed the CommonAge proposal to create a £50 million innovation fund to support scalable, high-impact solutions in health, housing, technology, and social care – especially in LMICs and Small Island Developing States.
The event concluded with a shared commitment to build inclusive, age-friendly societies and to ensure older people across the Commonwealth are not only living longer, but living well.
