Implementation of the African Continental Free Trade Area Guided Trade Initiative

CWEIC’s Country Director for Cameroon and Gabon, Cham Etienne Bama, has written a Trade Briefing on the implementation of the AfCFTA Guided Trade Initiative, published by tralac | Trade Law Centre.

The Guided Trade Initiative (GTI) of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) is a solution-oriented approach that aims to facilitate trade between interested state parties by connecting businesses and products for export and import. Its purpose is to enable the start of trading under the preferences of the AfCFTA Agreement among a group of State Parties that have met the minimum requirements for meaningful commercial trade.

In his Trade Brief, Cham reflects on the first seven months of the pilot phase and looks at key successes and areas for improvement.
