Lord Swire Meets With The President Of Tanzania To Strengthen Shared Commonwealth Values

On his visit to Tanzania, CWEIC Deputy Chairman Lord (Hugo) Swire, was honoured to meet the President, Her Excellency Samia Suluhu Hassan.

Discussions focused on the strengthening of long-standing Commonwealth ties, advancing trade opportunities, promoting sustainable economic cooperation, and identifying new avenues for investment within the Commonwealth framework.

During the visit, Lord Swire also engaged with leading figures from Tanzania’s business community – including Prof. Neema Mori, Boma Raballa, Umesh Puri, Sameer Gupta, and Brian Mambosho – alongside TEAGTL’s CEO Capt. Jeyaraj Thamburaj and CTO Rohit Thaker. Their discussions highlighted the shared ambition to accelerate Tanzania’s logistics and supply-chain transformation and to leverage the Commonwealth network in support of the country’s development priorities.

Reflecting on the engagement, Shahzad Athar, Board Member for Tanzania East Africa Gateway Terminal Limited, and Vice President Business Strategy of Adani Ports and SEZ, noted:
