Mr Mohamed Ali Janah Appointed As Special Advisor to the United Nations World Tourism Organization

Mr Mohamed Ali Janah, Chairman of CWEIC Strategic Partner Hotels and Resorts Investments, has been appointed as Special Advisor to the United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO). Mr Janah is the first Maldivian to hold the position.

The Secretary-General of the UN World Tourism Organization (UNWTO), Mr Zurab Pololikashvili, appointed Mr Mohamed Ali Janah, at an official ceremony that took place in Madrid, Spain, on January 23, 2024. Mr Janah expressed his gratitude to Mr Zurab and the UNWTO for the trust placed in him, affirming his dedication to giving his best for the organisation’s global initiatives. He pledged to diligently serve not only the UNWTO but also strive for the advancement of his homeland, the Maldives.

In addition to his role as UN Tourism Special Advisor, Mr Janah currently serves as the principal advisor on trade and investment for President Dr Mohamed Muizzu of the Maldives. He holds key positions as the President of the Maldives National Association for Construction Industry (MNACI) and the National Federation of Maldivian Employers (NFME).
