The Maldives launches first “COVID Insurance”

The Ministry of Tourism of The Maldives, in collaboration with Allied Insurance, has launched a COVID-19 insurance package named “Allied Inbound” aimed at tourists visiting the Maldives.

The plan covers charges related to medical services, isolation facility, emergency transportation and interment charges that may arise following a positive diagnosis. Read more here.

In addition, the Ministry has declared an extension to the validity of COVID-19 tests taken prior to arrival. Previously visitors had to have had a negative test 72 hours before flying, this has now been changed to 96 hours to make travelling to The Maldives easier.

The changes follow British Airways restarting its route to The Maldives, with three flights per week between London Heathrow.
