Deshan Gonawela serves as CWEIC’s Country Director for Sri Lanka, tasked with growing our network in the region.

Deshan Gonawela is the Chief of Staff at Design Studio, a leading clothing manufacturer for a number of British High street clothing brands. In his role, he overlooks multiple functions of the business including the enforcement of systems transformation and both international and external key stakeholder engagements. Deshan has multiple years of experience across both the Government and the private sector, having previously worked in Sri lanka’s Foreign Office in addition to a number of both local and multinational companies in Sri Lanka.

In addition to this role, Deshan also works with leading Sri Lankan conglomerates on market entry advisory into Sri Lanka with a focus on public-private partnerships.

Deshan holds an MBA from Birmingham City University and a BSc in Business and Management from the University of London.
