Brigantine
Brigantine Ltd, a Gibraltar-based company, is in the process of applying for an EMI license. The company is part of the Stream Innovation Group, a fintech holding group behnind the founding and growth of a number of venture businesses in the coprorate payments industry, including interalia Pagora, Leikur and Cosmonaut. The group prides itself on developing and maintaining best-in-class software for electronic payments. The EMI license application is being spearheaded by Brigantine’s Managing Director, Dr. Richard von Kalmar.
Brigantine’s focus will be on enabling and supporting the finance of trade between the emerging markets of Africa and Asia on the one hand and Continental Europe and the United Kingdom on the other. Additionally, Brigantine will provide payment services over BACS and SEPA, as well as over other networks, to its corporate clients and to Stream Innovation’s other venture companies.

Dr. Richard von Kalmar

BrigantineDr. von Kalmar also started his career in banking and subsequently worked as a management consultant and entrepreneur. He founded a fintech business that was sold to SunGard Data Systems and has been involved in the Stream Innovation group since 2022. He is also a member of the main board of Wahed Inc., an investment management business with two NASDAQ listed ETFs (HLAL and UMMA) and over US$1 billion in assets under management. Dr. von Kalmar holds an MBA from Edinburgh Business School and a Doctorate in Industrial Economics from Cranfield University’s School of Management.
