Jonathan McClory

Sanctuary CounselJonathan is a globally recognised expert on soft power, public diplomacy, foreign policy and government relations. Jonathan has advised governments, politicians, NGOs, Foundations, and companies across five continents on matters of reputation, policy, campaigning, and effective global engagement. Before joining Sanctuary Counsel, Jonathan was General Manager for Asia at Portland, where he built up and oversaw the company’s work across Asia Pacific from Singapore.
Jonathan started his career working in the think tank world and while at the Institute for Government in London, he created the world’s first composite index for measuring the soft power of countries. This later became the annual Soft Power 30 Index. He is a regular writer and commentator on soft power and country reputation. He is also a Research Associate at Hertford College, Oxford University.
