Rajesh Narain Gupta

SNG & PartnersRajesh Narain Gupta has been a practicing lawyer since 1988, with expertise spanning Financial Services, Commercial Laws, Real Estate, ESG, and Private Client Practice. He is a trusted advisor to leading foreign and Indian banks, financial institutions, real estate developers, and prominent corporate and industrial houses.
Rajesh has led numerous high-stakes negotiations and is frequently consulted on business strategy and solutions. His practice encompasses both routine and complex financial and commercial transactions. He was a special invitee of the Indian Banks’ Association (IBA) and the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) in connection with the amendment of the Banking Regulation Act, 1949. He was retained by the banking industry for the implementation of the SARFAESI Act, 2002, and advised NeSL in establishing the first utilities services under the Indian Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code, 2016.
Rajesh currently serves as an Independent Director on the Boards of HDFC Capital Advisors Limited, J.C. Flowers Asset Reconstruction Private Limited, and AXIS Capital Limited. He is also appointed as an External Expert on the Sustainable Development Goals Committee of SIDBI. Previously, he served as an Independent Director on the Boards of HDFC Limited and HDFC Credila Financial Services Limited.
He chairs the Banking and Finance Reforms Sub-Committee of the CII National Committee on Legal Services and is a member of the Task Force on Judicial Reforms constituted by the CII National Committee on Legal Services for 2025–2026.
Rajesh has received consistent recognition for professional excellence, including being ranked in the Chambers and Partners HNW Guide 2025 as a notable practitioner in cross-border private client mandates. In 2024, he was acknowledged as a Leading Individual for Private Client in Legal 500 Asia Pacific, recognised as a veteran in Private Wealth Law, named a Key Lawyer in Legal 500’s Green Guide, and awarded “Lawyer of the Year – Private Client” at the Indian Legal Awards by Legal Era.
