Tanzania East Africa Gateway Terminal Limited Joins CWEIC As Strategic Partner

CWEIC is pleased to welcome Tanzania East Africa Gateway Terminal Limited (TEAGTL) as a new Strategic Partner.

Tanzania East Africa Gateway Terminal Limited is the operator of the largest container handling facility in Tanzania, located at the Port of Dar es Salaam. As the premier container terminal in the country, TEAGTL handles the majority of containerised cargo movement through Dar es Salaam, playing a critical role in national and regional trade.

Strategically positioned on the East African coastline, TEAGTL serves as a vital maritime gateway connecting Tanzania with regional economies including Zambia, Malawi, Rwanda, Burundi, Uganda, and the eastern corridors of the Democratic Republic of Congo. Its operations support key trade routes across East and Central Africa, strengthening supply chains and facilitating cross-border commerce.

TEAGTL operates under a long-term public–private partnership with the Government of Tanzania and the Tanzania Ports Authority. Through this mandate, the company is focused on modernising the Dar es Salaam port ecosystem, expanding capacity, improving operational performance, and enhancing the competitiveness of regional trade infrastructure.

TEAGTL’s Advisory Council representative will be the company’s Director, Mr Shahzad Athar, who commented that:

“Joining CWEIC reflects our belief in the strength of strategic collaboration in advancing sustainable trade infrastructure. TEAGTL’s mandate to modernise and expand the Tanzanian logistics sector aligns closely with CWEIC’s vision, and we look forward to working with fellow members to strengthen regional supply chains, share expertise and support economic opportunity across the Commonwealth.”

CWEIC looks forward to working with TEAGTL to support infrastructure development, trade facilitation, and regional economic growth across Commonwealth markets.
