The Commonwealth Investment Network Announces Plans To Advance Sustainable Economic Growth Across the Commonwealth

The Commonwealth Investment Network (CIN), introduced at the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM) 2024, is now being implemented by the Cambridge Centre for Alternative Finance (CCAF) to drive investment and sustainable growth across the Commonwealth.

The CIN aims to strengthen collaboration among local, regional and international partners to identify and support investment opportunities in vulnerable Commonwealth nations. Initially focused on Small Island Developing States (SIDS) in the Caribbean and Pacific, the initiative seeks to accelerate investment in climate-positive and sustainable projects that promote inclusive economic growth and resilience.

Running from September 2025 to March 2026, this delivery phase will launch initiatives to enhance investment readiness and attract new capital flows into Commonwealth SIDS. This includes establishing a platform for knowledge exchange, launching a three-month Accelerator Programme for climate-positive projects, and providing tailored support for national investment promotion agencies. The CIN will also engage investors and private sector partners to promote opportunities for sustainable investment across the Commonwealth.

Supported by the Commonwealth Secretariat and the UK Government, the CIN plays a central role in delivering the Commonwealth Plan of Action on Investment and the Commonwealth Secretariat Strategic Plan 2025–2030.

CWEIC welcomes this important initiative, which aligns closely with its mission to promote trade, investment and sustainable growth across the Commonwealth’s 56 member nations. The Council encourages its Strategic Partners and members to explore the programme and share details within their networks.
