Bestway is the second largest wholesaler in the UK, the third largest retail pharmacy in the UK, the largest cement producer in Pakistan and the second largest private bank in Pakistan. The Group provides employment to over 38,000 globally including 15,000 in the UK.

Chairman
Bestway GroupLord Choudrey is Chairman of Bestway Group, having joined the Group in 1984. Over the course of his career at Bestway, he has held several senior leadership roles, including Financial Controller, Chief Financial Officer and Chief Executive Officer, before becoming Chairman.
He led the Group’s expansion into Pakistan through the establishment of Bestway Cement Limited and the acquisition of United Bank Limited, and also oversaw its diversification into the healthcare sector through the acquisition of Well Pharmacy. He is Chief Executive of Bestway Cement Limited and a Director of Bestway Wholesale, Well Pharmacy and United Bank Limited.
Lord Choudrey is the Founding Trustee of Bestway Foundation and serves as Chairman of Bestway Foundation Pakistan. He is Chairman of the Conservative Friends of Pakistan and Chairman of the UK Advisory Council of HRH The British Asian Trust.
He is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales and a graduate of the University of Kent. In recognition of his contributions to business and public life, he received an Honorary Doctor of Civil Law degree from the University of Kent in 2014. In 2015, he was awarded The Grocer Cup for Outstanding Business Achievement by the Institute of Grocery Distribution and was appointed Commander of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire (CBE) by Her Majesty The Queen. In 2018, he was awarded the Sitara-e-Imtiaz (Star of Excellence) by the President of Pakistan.
In 2019, he was nominated for a life peerage and was introduced to the House of Lords as Baron Choudrey of Hampstead.
