Maltese Hospitality Expands to London with Flagship Aki Restaurant

On 27 May, CWEIC joined a site visit to 1 Hanover Square, London, the future home of Aki London, a three-storey flagship restaurant set to open this autumn. The project marks a significant investment from CWEIC Strategic Partner DB Group, through its hospitality arm, Lifestyle Group.

Rosie Glazebrook, Chief Executive of CWEIC, joined Nicholas Portelli, Managing Director of SDH Capital, the family office of DB Group, alongside Victoria Busby OBE, UK High Commissioner-designate to Malta, and H.E. Stephen Montefort, Malta’s High Commissioner to the UK.

Aki London represents Lifestyle Group’s first international venture and the beginning of its global expansion strategy. The restaurant aims to bring the unique dining experience of its Maltese counterpart to London, offering a contemporary Japanese menu with a modern twist. The original Aki in Valletta, Malta, is renowned for its innovative dishes which are all prepared using the freshest, seasonal ingredients.

The restaurant will be located in the heart of the West End, at One Cavendish Square in a Grade II-listed building. A former bank, the building has undergone a 15 million pound renovation over the last two years; the full renovation has seen the banking hall transformed into the 80 cover central dining room and the vaults a destination bar, while the mezzanine level will feature an undercover terrace and private dining space.
