Kenyan President Honours Elgon Kenya Directors with Highest Civilian Awards

At the prestigious Jamhuri day celebrations held at State House, Nairobi, His Excellency Dr William Samoei Ruto, President of Kenya, bestowed the nation’s highest civilian awards upon Mr Baiju Kantaria and Dr Bimal Kantaria, Directors of Elgon Kenya Limited, a CWEIC Strategic Partner. The ceremony, akin to the UK’s annual King’s Honours List, recognised their exceptional contributions to the nation.

Dr Bimal Kantaria was honoured with the distinguished Elder of the Order of the Burning Spear (EBS), while Mr Baiju Kantaria received the esteemed Order of the Grand Warrior (OGW). Dr Bimal Kantaria was among the select ten Kenyans personally bestowed with the honour by the President, highlighting the significance of his service to the nation.

As Managing Director of Elgon Kenya, Dr Bimal Kantaria oversees a workforce of over 600 employees and directs operations across Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, Ethiopia, and Zambia, positioning the company as the largest agriculture inputs provider in East Africa. His leadership extends beyond business, as he actively engages in philanthropic endeavours, leveraging his skills and knowledge for the betterment of society.

Dr Bimal Kantaria’s commitment to Kenya has been previously recognised. In 2020, H.E. President Uhuru Kenyatta honoured him with the Kenya Presidential Order of Service- Uzalendo Award for his pivotal role during the COVID-19 pandemic, particularly for spearheading the Flowers of Hope project, which safeguarded thousands of Kenyan jobs.
